An unusual woody climber of medium size, forming dense tangles in small trees and shrubs, with vigorously twinning stems of small ovate-acute deciduous leaves. Bearing intense red stalks to axillary droops 15cm long, of deep-burgundy coloured fruit, which succeed the late spring, usually scented cup-shaped flowers. For humus-enriched soil, part shade-full sun. Previously offered as aff. bicolor.
