(Phytolaccaceae)

Phytolacca aff. bogotensis - BSWJ16448

Pot Size: 1.5 litre
Price: £12.00
Description:
From seed we collected on our way to Volcán del Ruiz in January of 2024, where we found a quite different form of this colourful species. OK so we were at 3,500m on the Cordillera Occidental in central Colombia and the vegetation was full of treasures. Which had a low creeping habit with thick sprawling pinkish stems with generous quantities of dumpy pink upright flowering spikes, backed by purple tinted foliage with pink venation. The habit could easily be attributed to the lofty altitude. Although considered poisonous some species are eaten, not something we would recommend. Sometimes cultivated as it has many valued properties, used as an ink or dye. Full sun or light shade in any type of drained fertile soil.
