From a small much branched shrub to only 3m tall, with black bark on the second year's wood, bearing ovate leaves which were very hairy below and the remains of white flowers in wide flattened corymbs from June-July. Growing in full sun on an exposed steep mountain side. Easily grown in sun or shade in any fertile drained soil.
