With several well spaced whorls of 3-6 broadly lanceolate leaves eventually coiling tendril-like at their tips. The creamy-green red-purple speckled flowers are distinctly large (1.8cm long in our stock), which easily segregates this species from P. cirrhifolium (5mm long), known for its small flowers. are in pendulous axillary pairs, subtended by tiny bracts, followed by blue-black berries. Easily grown in a well drained soil in part shade.
