Forming slowly spreading colonies in its native mountainous forests of south-western Europe, spreading as far north as Germany. Where the pinnate leaves emerge with clusters of large white flowers April-May, on stems to 20-30cm. Spread 45-60cm. Easily grown in full to part shade, in a drained soil that can retain some moisture during its growing season. Liable to go dormant early if warm and dry. A selection given to us from the renowned plantsman the late Harry Hay's garden.
