With spine-tipped ovate leaf-like cladodes, that are actually flattened shoots, bearing a succession of tiny white and purple flowers in winter to spring. Followed by bright red berries on female flowers when pollinated. A from we found on a shaded small flood plain in the south of Sicily in 2016. Easily grown in almost any site, but best in shade, in most types of soils, a very tough and amenable plant, drought tolerant. Height 2m, Spread 2m.
