Description:
One of the first ornamental crops we grew commercially, hence used it for our logo. Being lucky with our garden been acidic, this herbaceous climber thrived even in our shallow soil over a rocky outcrop, pushing its white slender bootlace-like rhizomes throughout that garden. Where it covered many of our small trees and shrubs with its small fresh green leaves divided into 6 leaflets on slender wiry stems. Bearing bright red helmet-shaped flowers from most of its leaf axils on slender stalks, from May until late summer. Which were followed by blue berries, that age black by the autumn. Best planting the base in humus rich lime-free soil, in cool shade where the top can grow into sunlight.
