Indispensable evergreen small tree with distinctive peeling cinnamon-coloured bark. With dainty shortly pointed dark dull green ovate leaves. Fragrant, white flowers are borne in profusion from June-October, followed by edible red-black berries, much loved by birds. Prolific in mild localities, shelter in colder areas, full sun and well drained soil. Height 7m. Spread 4m.
