Schizophragma megalocarpa - DJH8114

Pot Size: 4 litre
Price: £50.00
Description:
Another disputed name I'm afraid, which we are hanging onto for the sake of distinguishing this collection from more inferior forms. From a seed collection gathered by Dan Hinkley on the upper slopes of Emei Shan in Sichuan Province in 2008. A self-clinging woody climber with grey-brown subglabrous meandering stems to 10m long, clothed in papery textured glabrous, broadly ovate leaves with base truncate or slightly cordate. Bearing 50cm wide corymbs, brown pubescent when young, of small fertile flowers, surrounded by large persistent creamy bracts 3-6cm long, in July-Aug. Flowers best into the sun, with shade and moisture at the base in humus-enriched soil. Syn. integrifolium.
