A low growing evergreen perennial species with long creeping elongated rhizomatous roots. With lustrous eaves on long petioles, which are heart shaped reminiscent of Cyclamen. Meanwhile the dark coloured flowers are some 2 cm long in the tube with three lobes of 12 mm long, borne near the ground. Best grown in a fully to partly shaded site, in a moisture retentive acidic to neutral soil which is drained.
