A tall imposing species in gardens, although only recorded as attaining 1.2m tall in the wild. With large reniform (kidney-shaped) basal leaves to 50cm across with sharply serrated margins, held on long clasping woolly haired petioles. The size of leaf decreasing up the tall stems that bear a terminal racemose inflorescence of yellow ray-flowers, subtended by large leafy bracts. Essential to grow this species in a cool position that is moist, in either light to fairly well shaded situation.
