Only seen in their desiccated state by ourselves, when collecting the seed of these glorious large architectural perennials in the mountains of Andalucia southern Spain in the summer of 2014. Where many of the wide mound forming plants had grown into tall single stemmed plants to 3m, green glaucous with few branches subtended by large inflated sheathes.
