Pot Size: 5 litre Price: £60.00 Description: A French counterpart to our Italian form of this evergreen subshrub arising from creeping drought tolerant rhizomatous roots. With arching stems to around 60 cm tall/long, all depending on growing conditions. Bearing up to 19 'leaves' (cladodes or flattened stems) to 14cm long by 4.5cm wide obovate-lanceolate with acutely pointed tips. Bearing either above or below the cladode a cluster of small white and purple female (males not known) flowers, opening in succession autumn to spring, all subtended by narrow bracts. Considered to be a species initially described in 1854 as R. microglossum. Followed when pollinated (by a species) by plump bright red fruit to 11mm wide. Best grown in shade that does not waterlog.
