One of the most striking whitebeams, with large bold foliage, originally gathered from 2900m at Bakim in eastern Sikkim, by the AGS expedition in 1983. Our seed was collected from the best form growing at Ness Gardens, growing in a colony of the species. Forming an upright tree 4-5m tall with large paddle-shaped leaves to 30cm long sea-green above contrasting with the chocolate indumentum below. Bearing large apple-like russet coloured fruit in loose bunches by late summer into winter.
