With large unarmed bi-pinnate leaves dark green above glaucous below 1m long, comprising numerous glabrous ovate leaflets, with a pair of leaflets at each division of the rachis. Inflorescence a large upright panicle 90cm long with numerous long side branches of creamy white flowers followed by dark purple globose fruit. A seed collection from The South Cross Highway from the forest edge near Kuanshan on the eastern side of Taiwan, at 1850m during my 2007 expedition with Finlay Colley. Easily grown in any fertile soil in sun or light shade, shelter from the coldest winds.
