Description: From our seed collection made in Taroko, Eastern Taiwan, where this tree grew at the edge of the dense forest at 1700m, in the same area as P. fortunei one of the parents of this natural hybrid. Forming a widely branched tree 17m tall with large ovate leaves 28cm long and nearly as wide. Bearing large branched pyramidal inflorescences of lilac trumpet-flowers heavily spotted purple held in 3-5s. For a fertile soil in sun or part shade, suitable for pollarding for foliage effect.
