Where the plants were to be found growing in very moist forest, with upright stems to a meter tall bearing large terminal spikes of glossy black berries, borne on stiff fleshy bright pink pedicells from summer into autumn. Easily grown in any kind of fertile drained moisture retentive soil in part to full shade.
