A clone we collected seed of from Taipingshan a cold and wet mountainous area of Northern Taiwan, with day temperatures to only 3C while we were there in 1993. A rhizomatous perennial toad lily, with erect leafy stems to 60cm tall bearing terminal corymbs of heavily spotted purplish-pink flowers with yellow-tinged throats. Spread 50cm. Easily grown in sun or shade, in a moisture retentive acid-neutral soil which does not waterlog in winter.
