Schisandra repanda - BSWJ11455

Pot Size: 4 litre (deep)
Price: £20.00
Description:
A rarity in the wild and virtually unknown in cultivation, memorable not only for bearing bloomy black fruit, but for the circumstances of the collection. A relatively small twinning deciduous species with orbicular fleshy-textured leaves to 6 cm long on reddish stalks to 5cm long, bearing solitary creamy white axillary flowers on slender peduncles followed by pendulous spikes of fruit on female plants. From our 2006 collection gathered from the typhoon devastated mountains of Miyazaki southern Japan at 1,000m. Easily grown in a humus-enriched drained soil, in part shade-full sun. Syn. S. nigra.
