Soon forming dense clumps from the swollen roots that can only spread slowly, bearing upright terminal spikes of bright purple flowers in summer which are followed by blue-purple fruits. Height 40cm spread 30cm. Easily grown in either sun or shade in any type of drained fertile soil. From one of our collections gathered at the edge of a Chamaecyparis forest on the Chiba Peninsular Japan.
