Description: A distinct cultivar from Japan, which is one of the easiest to cultivate due to its vigorous habit. A distinctly textured shrub with pale branches, bark peeled off into fragments when older. Carrying large textured hairy leaves and dense terminal corymbs of small lilac flowers surrounded by large creamy sterile flowers, all having emerged from large golf-ball like buds of enveloping bracts (involucre). Best grown in a moisture retentive soil in light shade of a woodland. Height & spread 3m.
