A diminutive species we find at the highest altitude in Taiwan, where this very hardy species forms scattered colonies, typically amongst other shade tolerant alpine flora or dwarfed bamboo. Forming a small rosette of pale green tri-five lobed thin-textured leaves on wiry stalks, with slender reddish flowering stems to 15 cm tall bearing few flowered inflorescence of pale pink staminate flowers sporadically throughout the growing season. A collection from Yushan in 2003. Best grown with care in lightly shaded conditions in a well drained soil with plenty of added humus.
