Description: An upright bushy well clothed shrub with small dark-green leathery leaves, white below, bearing a covering of sizeable star-like lilac flowers held in broad upright spikes. Missed by my oxygen lacking eye, from high up on Volcán Ruiz in the Colombian Paramo where it (we only saw the one) grew. Just as well Sue was still alert as we would have hated to have missed the opportunity to try this quality shrub. Best grown in a sheltered sunny position in a drained fertile soil.
