Where this species had escaped from cultivation where it is highly valued for its very fragrant white flowers, having originated from the Sino-Himalayan region. A rhizomatous perennial we have grown in an open field for many years with minimal protection to the roots, where it has thrived and multiplied with upright stems to 1.1m tall bearing broad pale green leaves and a loose terminal spike of scented white flowers in late summer to October.
