An easily distinguishable gregarious species with a wide spread distribution within South Africa, highly valued for its foliage apart from its inflorescence. Preferring some moisture in the wild where it forms short few branched trunks, bearing wonderfully glaucous serrulate margined foliage and bi-coloured 'pokers' on stems to only 75cm. Easily grown in most fertile soils that are not too dry in sun or part shade.
