Description:
From seed we collected in the Central Mountain Range of Colombia, between Honda and Manizales at 3,500m. Growing in a small forest clearing along with other herbaceous perennials. With slender bristly reddish upright stems bearing oblong deeply furrowed asymmetrical leaves and terminal small bright pink flowers with contrasting white stamen. The flowers of a single sex being held on separate plants with 4-winged seed capsules following the female flowers. Best in a container or testing for hardiness in a sheltered shady area in a drained fertile moisture retentive soil.
