Description: Forming medium to large sized shrubs where we found this rare species growing in the Nilgiri Hills, at 2600m, in South India. Where it had seeded itself around with abandon, forming upright corky and furrowed trunks bearing large 8-9 paired pinnately arranged spiny dark green leaves. With generous terminal spikes 20cm long of yellow orange tinted flowers, soon followed by small grape-like fruit. Any well drained sheltered site in sun, protect from frost.
