A moisture loving perennial species which has a wide distribution and variability, in the wild. This plant represents our collection from high altitude in the mountain forests of the Kii Peninsular in Japan. Where it formed dense clumps of narrow, upright leaves to 1.5m tall. With upright few branched flowering stems bearing bright yellow broadly petalled flowers with a splash of brown markings on the falls April-August.
