Description: Small spiny shrub of compact habit, with shining dark green leaves which are glaucous beneath, held on upright to arching stems which are a brilliant red in their first winter. Bearing clusters of yellow flowers in the upper leaf axils which are followed by large globular, dull red pendant berries. A form we collected in Northeast Sikkim in 1994, which is best pruned hard to encourage the red stems. Easily grown in any fertile soil in sun or part shade.
