(Aristolochiaceae)

Asarum nobilissimum

Pot Size: 2 litre
Price: £20.00
Description:
A perennial plant arising from short, upright underground stems that are only a few millimeters thick. Each plant usually has a single heart-shaped leaf on a smooth stalk, that is sometimes lightly spotted white above. The flower stalk bends downward, so the flower sits on the ground. The massive flower is deep purple-brown and creamy-white centred, spotted cream and is campanulate, with three very broad lobes. Inside, the flower has ridges and a net-like texture near the opening. Flowering in April-May. Best grown in a moisture retentive soil with good drainage either in a container or in sheltered woodland conditions, protected from severe frost and desiccating winds.
