Actinidia coriacea - WWJ11895

Sorry this plant is not available at the moment. Please try again later or select an alternative plant.
An evergreen species in the wild, more semi-evergreen for us in our climate. Only forming a small plant 2-3m long in the wild, where we found this twinning climber clambering over and up small shrubs. Bearing long narrow elliptic to oblong thick textured leaves with conspicuous venation. Carrying an abundance of small lenticellate fruit on the occasion we found it. From seed I collected with (the late) Peter Wharton in Seo Mi Ty northern Vietnam. An area that has all but been destroyed due to climate change causing a demand for firewood in the colder winters. Easily grown in a reasonably sheltered site in fertile drained soil with adequate moisture retention.
