Description:
A monotypic genus of a recently introduced woodland perennial with valuable ornamental and medicinal qualities, closely related to Asarum which it lends its name to (just move the A). With softly hairy bronzed shoots emerging from the woodland floor in early spring, of up to 50-100cm tall in favourable conditions, opening to downy heart-shaped leaves ageing to a fresh green. Bearing a steady show of axillary three undulating petalled pastel yellow, sometimes green tinted flowers to 2cm across from April to October. Easily grown in a cool woodland setting in a drained moisture retentive site in mottled to dense shade, in an acidic to neutral drained soil. Protect from direct strong midday sun. Sold out for the 2025 season
