Description:
How does one describe a plant that has been bulldozed to extinction in the wild? For its description follow :- DOI: https://doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.308.1.14 . When I arrived at the only site of this species with a tiny distribution, the bulldozer was literary turning off its engine. We saved what we could from the gang of strimmers sent in to clean up, by negotiating a short delay. It may not be the most ornamental species with lanceolate-linear foliage to 1.2m long (by my measurements) perched on upright rhizomes supported by long stilt-like roots, with only their tips in the soil. Which also supported the pendantly inclined dark purple flowers, which had faded well before we arrived.
