A shrub to 2m tall, closely related to and resembling Hydrangea. The leaves are thick textured, semi-evergreen, best grown in a sheltered spot out of freezing winds and hard frosts, in full sun to part shade. Flowering from August until frost, bearing dense terminal branched panicles of all fertile blue flowers, followed by blue to purple berries.
