(Begoniaceae)

Begonia edulis - BWJ16310

Pot Size: 5 litre
Price: £20.00
Description:
From a rather remote mountain range, with a long drive in for hours over rough terrain. Growing in mature damp mountain forest at the base of steep shady cliffs. Conspicuous with very large lopsided orbicular-palmate glowing leaves, as they were iridescent in the dark forest. Forming relatively tall plants on reddish stems to 80cm arising directly from the thick rhizomes. With broad green shallowly, but sharply lobbed leaves, somewhat hiding the pink flowers held in terminal whirls. Best in a container or testing in a sheltered corner, hardiness not known yet, but collected from a reasonably high elevation. From Ha Giang Province, growing in the mountains of the remote Bac Me District northern Vietnam, where we were looking for Aspidistra.
