Arising from fleshy roots, with robust stems to 30cm with dark green broad glossy leaves sheathing the stems with their bases. Bearing terminal purple helmet-shaped flowers in succession June-August. Best planted 15cm deep in a well drained peaty soil in part shade to sun.
