Description: Like many of the plants we have collected from the island of Yakushima, Japan the young plants of this superb aerial-rooting climber are dwarfed in juvenility. Here it clothed the tree trunks of the ancient forests with broadly rotund-ovate coarsely toothed leaves in bright tones of autumnal yellows, where of the primeval plants had reached 12m. Bearing masses of showy inflorescences subtended by sterile bracts July-August. Easily grown in any aspect, but flowering better with the top in sun, whilst the base is shaded in a good humus rich moisture retentive soil.
