Description: One of our collection made as we reappeared from the forests of the Mewa Khola on our 2002 trek with Dan Hinkley in North-eastern Nepal. From open exposed cliffs, where their fleshy roots formed an enveloping dense carpet, with sturdy upright purple stems to 75cm tall. With stem-sheathing narrow foliage and congested terminal clusters of elongated seed capsules, which had succeeded the broad-lipped orchid-like successive flowers, variably coloured from white to purple June-October. Easily grown in sun or shade in a humus-rich soil that is drained.
