Being a seed collection gathered from only 2000m in northern most Vietnam, close to the Chinese border in 2011. Collected from a relatively small tree to only10 m tall, where we found this rarity, in severely disturbed ancient forest. Bearing broad palmate deeply 5-7 long and pointedly lobed thick-textured glossy leaves 15 cm across. As well as pendant racemes of red winged pairs of seed held almost horizontally. Best grown in shelter from the coldest weather in a fertile retentive, but drained soil.
