Description: A climbing or scandent shrubby species I have encountered several times climbing through large shrubs in the Himalayas and Vietnam. This collection formed a lax climber 2-3m long with grey-brownish stems armed with few scattered hooked spines. Clothed in rather large pinnate leaves 30-40cm long consisting of 6-8 pairs of leaflets. The inflorescences were congested terminal and axillary panicles of small pink-purple flowers followed by pink rounded capsules splitting to reveal the black glossy seed within. A collection from our Singalila trek below Tonglu West Bengal, at 2650m. Easily cultivated in part-shade to full sun in a drained fertile soil.
