Description: An exceptionally ornamental member of the willow family, that is more reminiscent of a Buddleja, both in flower and foliage. That we found growing at a heady altitude of 3670m, on the route to Nevado de Santa Isabel, Tolima, Colombia, in 2024. Here it attained around 2m in height, with opposite oblong-elliptic greyish to tomentose-white foliage. Held on upright downy fawn stems, which terminate in a long spikes of up to 25cm of bright yellow flowers with a mass of protruding stamen. Never been grown in the UK as far as I know, hence approach with caution, grow in good light initially with some good protection from hard frosts, in a well drained soil with some moisture retention.
