Ilex perado subsp. azorica (female) - BSWJ12526

Pot Size: 5 litre
Price: £55.00
Description:
From one of our seed collections gathered on the high mountains of Sao Miguel Island, part of the Azores in 2008. Where they only formed small to medium sized densely clothed shrubs in the harsh exposure, with leathery orbicular-ovate leaves bearing fine spines along their rims. Carrying an abundance of whitish flowers in summer, followed by plump red fruit in late summer into the winter, if pollinated by a male. Best grown in some shelter from severe cold in sun or shade in a drained fertile soil. Forming effective unusual windbreaks in coastal areas.
