Pot Size: 4 litre (deep) Price: £20.00 Description: A new species to cultivation forming 1m tall erect red polished stems with variably shaped alternate leaves from ovate to lanceolate, which terminate in a decidedly pendulous paniculate inflorescence 12cm long, with white to reddish-purple flowers followed by trilocular red fruit which can persist for a year. From one of our collections gathered on Volcán San Pedro at 2100-2500m overlooking the huge crater-lake of Atitlan in Guatemala in 2001. Best grown in a fertile moisture retentive soil in part shade, protect the rhizome from frost, with a mulch. Was Smilacina salvinii.
