A low-growing evergreen perennial species emerging from very slender rhizomatous roots, with heart shaped to rounded uniformly green or sometimes blotched leaves. Bearing several axillary three lobed purple-brown flowers close to the ground October to February. Best grown in a shady sheltered moist site in a leafy but drained soil.
