Description: An alpine semi-climbing species that we collected seed of at a lofty 3500m on the outer limits of the Chingazá protected area just east of Bogota, Colombia. Growing with and through ericaceous dwarf shrubs and scrub on an exposed ridge, in early 2024. A real rarity, that may fool anyone that it could not possibly be a Bomarea. Only attaining 1m in height, but more commonly 20-25cm on mostly single stems of congested narrowly obovate tiny foliage, bearing a few terminal red outer and less conspicuous yellow inner petals. Followed by small glabrous round green seed pods. Grow in a coolish well-lit position with adequate drainage. SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FROM LATE SPRING 2025
