Description:
From seed gathered from H. linearifolia, pollinated by H. angustifolia growing together in one of our polytunnels. Resulting in plants that are intermediate in habit to both species, forming a vigorous woody-stemmed evergreen, twining climber to 6m. With leaves composed of five to nine narrow leathery leaflets, that emerge a dark bronze, slowly transforming to pale green as they mature. Bearing in spring an abundance of separate male (flared pink to cream) & female (plump, pale pink), scented flowers, followed by purple sausage-shaped edible fruit. Best grown in a sheltered site out of freezing winds in a fertile well drained soil with some moisture retention. Closely related to and similar in habit to Stauntonia.
