Description: We were pleasantly surprised to find our old friend growing in such a hostile environment in the exceptionally cold mountains close to Hakkodasan in the north of Honshu, Japan in the autumn of 2005. A scarce buttercup relative, similar in flower to some Thalictrum, rising from a short rhizome, sometimes stoloniferous, with erect stems to 60cm bearing palmate leaves to 20 cm across below the dense many-flowered corymbs of the fluffy white staminate flowers June-September. Easily grown in full-part shade in a well drained leafy soil.
