Description:
Probably the most flamboyant species we have collected seed of so far, with huge terminal orbicular inflorescences getting on for the size of a football, in all shades of red with a hint of pink. Growing on a strongly twinning evergreen herbaceous stems to around 4-5m long in the wild, from a bundle of tuberous roots. With ovate-lanceolate fleshy foliage arranged spirally on dark purple stems. From one of our seed collections made in dense forest on route up to Nevado del Ruiz in Santa Marta de Cabal at 3,170m, part of the Central Mountain Range. Best grown in a rich well-draining soil, in shade for the roots with protection from frost. SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FROM LATE SPRING 2025
