Holboellia angustifolia - HWJCM008

Pot Size: 4 litre (deep)
Price: £30.00
Description:
Seedling from our original plant, grown from seed gathered with Dan Hinkley and friends in Central Nepal in 1995. A vigorous woody-stemmed evergreen, twining climber to 6m, with leaves composed of five or more, leathery dark green glossy leaflets. Bearing in spring an abundance of separate male (flared pale lilac) & female (plump, palest pink), highly scented flowers, followed by white-purple sausage-shaped edible fruit. Best grown in a sheltered site out of freezing winds in a fertile well drained soil with some moisture retention. A species described from Nepal in 1828. Offered by us for many years as H. latifolia, which also originates from Nepal. Closely related to and similar in habit to Stauntonia.
