Description:
Capable (over a lifetime or two) of forming a large tree, 8-12m tall, with stout branchlets. Bearing large leathery oblanceolate leaves, 14-30 × 8-13 cm with silvery-white indumentum below and prominent impressed venation above. Inflorescence large 20-25-flowered in rounded corymbs in May, white to creamy-white, with 8 lobes. Best grown in a drained humus rich soil that is lime free, in a sheltered site from cold winds and in good light. Resulting from one of our collections gathered at 2,800m close to Bakim on the Dzongri Trail in north-western Sikkim in 2013. *** **** Only supplied as an open ground bare-rooted plant. Best taken in the cooler months as less watering is required. The pot size given is for the purpose of calculating carriage only.
